YouTube Blocked in Pakistan. Why?

Dear Valued Customer:

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (www.pta.gov.pk)
has directed all ISPs of the country to block access
to www.youtube.com web site for containing
blasphemous web content/movies.

The site would remain blocked till further orders from
PTA. Meanwhile, Internet users can write to
youtube.com to remove the objectionable web
content/movies because this removal would enable
the authorities to order un-blocking of this web
site.

and then click on "cashed" link Wink

other way to visit blocked sites is going with proxyserver like

No it is not loading in Islamabad…. from tomorow Mush will pass the ordinance that Newspapers are also banned. If you have to read hen read The Musharraf Times. Very soon you will not be allowed to breathe also. I think Admin you should also start to pack up:) by the way there was a site by Shaheen Sehbai by the name of South Asia Tribune. As it was banned in pakistan there was another link from which you can access south asia tribune. Can some one guide me on that??
It seems that YouTube has been banned in Pakistan because of some Election Rigging videos being posted there. Would it be possible for you to archive these Election Videos here as I know that a lot of International / Pakistani Visitors come here on frequent basis.

...they can't just block a resourceful website like this. they should instead make a case against the offensive material uploaded and go directly to youtube adinistrators. Offensive things like rape and pornographic videos, and copyright materials are uploaded constantly but they are deleted when the complaint is made directly to youtube. Government interfering to completely ban the entire website is just plain wrong use of power. thisshould not be an option; hopefully it'll be restored.

That makes much more sense; there is tons of material on youTube that offensive to Islam (and other religions)...why is it that now they do something like this?

yaar seems that pakistani nation is really strange in objecting matters.

yaar at least, know the news and and then reply. site blocked coz of blasphemy and on one hand we pretend to be good muslims while on the other we r much eager to see the blasphamous stuff.

as far freedom is concerned, wake up dear ones and reply where does the so-called freedom goes when NONE IN THE WORLD CAN DISCUSS HOLOCAST.
where is the freedom of views projected by the west. they befool ppl like us and get their own benifits. we have to think where does we stand. do we have any of our own basis of life or we r here to follow the dual standards of the west and ruin the beloved country and islam.
if someone here claims to be supporter of the western freedom. i shall wait till the time he can share us a single column or article in any newspaper of the west against the theory of holocast.
or we should stopp following the theory of freedom given by them.

this is the world's famous website and how can they just block it.
