Uk versus Canada

Hi,
I have been working in London for 3 years and my understanding is that one should not make UK a permanent home outside Pakistan as UK is suffering from lack of resources and area wise it is a very small country.The best option is Canada where country is big, more resources and one gets passport in only 3 years.

UK is making the immigration policy more strict, and finding a professional job in uk is very difficult as competition is very tough and they prefer their national first and then the people from european union and then international students.

I think Canada is a good place to live provided one gets a job offer which is not easy due to many highly qualified professionals arriving/arrived in Canada from around the world

Hi,

I have a question: If one spends 5 years in the UK on a work permit, is he/she considered eligible for ILR? Do the new immigration rules affect it in any way? Will appreciate any advice.

I think one can apply for ILR after 5 years on work permit but has to stay for another year to apply for citizenship!!

i personally feel getting visa for both canada, uk is not that hard as compare to usa. but i'll agree with a lot of posts written above that canada has a lot more opportunities as compare to uk. uk is conjusted , a lot more discrimination than compare to canada, australia, usa. other than language canada would be a better option and there is always a bright chance of getting nationality.

I think that both are great countries to live in and all people should vsist to get a feel of what they are all about. Persoanlly I love London as its so cosmopolitan and Toronto is so multicultural.
