Role of civil society
What should be the role of civil society, including all the political parties, after the announcement that elections will be held before 9th of January?. This card has been played by establishment with a great political wisdom. Indeed, the promise of total democratic rule is very attractive and enticing especially for the political parties; however the reverse side of getting entrapped into this golden chain is to accept the legitimacy of the proclamation of emergency and establishment's naked onslaught on judiciary, third pillar of Govt. It will not only undermine the great sacrifices of civil society, epically the lawyer’s community, but would also chop the limbs of judicial systems which after sixty years of subjugation had gathered the courage to stand on its on feet and face the executive.

Geo TV should apologize Reply with quote
A program (Hamarey Mutabiq by Dr. Shahid Masood) was aired on Geo TV on the event of Pakistan 's 60th Independence day where guests from both India and Pakistan were invited for discussion including Sheikh Rasheed, Syed Mushahid Hussain (Federal Ministers) and Mirza Aslam Baig from Pakistan side.
The backstage was a TV screen showing flags of Pakistan and India . The Pakistani flag showed Star of David (Jewish sign) instead of the regular five-pointed star.
This, if unintentional, is a serious blunder on part of Geo TV and they should apologize to the nation as they make a mockery of Pakistan 's identity in front of all world.

I am pretty sure that it can't be an intentional , however having said that I must say that we as a nation are very unfortunate in having rulers ,who claim to be offering us good governance, leave a trail of events that has plenty of stuff to make mockery of us as nation and an independent state.

I am not sure if they were really students of university, Imran Khan had a mixed support, some believed that he is trying to steal the show and probably they were offended and reacted in a very unhealthy way. The need of the hour is to get united and oppose the suppression in a meaningful way leaving behind the petty differences.

Laughing Embarassed Crying or Very sad Shocked this is what I think of the role of civil society since the history of this nation. Cannot do a thing but to accept everything no matter how it is imposed or forced.

Role of civil societies should be to bring harmony and build consensus among citizens of Pakistan.
It is sign of weak personalites, socieities, or nations to change direction with every change of wind direction. Nations who succeed are those who stand on purpose and have clear vision and mission for existance.
Pakistan does have its mission statement in form of "idealogy of Pakistan"

At this time first thing we have to do is build confidence and trust among ourself and avoid any thing that illeudes trust like

Let me say very loudly that Gen Musharraf is not the Pakistan's problem. Pakistan's main problem is education and by education I do not mean degrees. Now a days most of uneducated people are degree holders. Paksitan's second problem is poverty. Pakistan third problem is Law & order situation, and justice.

At this time Lawers should struggle to deliver justice to common man instead of agaitation against goverment.
Rest every body should focus on education, hard work, and law & order situation.

Please help us God

In the end all praises are due to Lord.
