Rawalpindi, Peshawar out of the race for Gold final

Looking to enhance their position so as to be one of the two teams to reach the Gold League final, table leaders Karachi Urban will come face to face with their main adversaries Sialkot, the defending champions currently second-placed in the points ranking, in their four-day, sixth-round 49th Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Cricket Championship match, at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot from today (Wednesday).

With their third win from four matches, Karach Urban displaced Rawalpindi last Sunday from the top of the Gold League table. Sialkot lifted themselves from the fifth position to the second after their third victory, also from four appearances.

Rawalpindi, who have never won a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Championship title, were thus pushed to third spot in the seven-team ranking and could very well be out of the race for the Gold League final already.

Rawalpindi and Peshawar — champions twice in 1998-99 and 2004-05 — each have only one of their six matches left to play while all other teams have two matches in hand.
