Pakistan Keeper Kamran Akmal poor performance
I m watching Pakistani team very closely from past couple of years and especially on the performance of Kamran Akmal, He let the Pakistani team down on so many occasions and now its time to replace him with Zulqarnain i think the coach should give a chance to the new guy and lets see how he take his chance.........

The country is rich in very good cricketers. Finding a good wicket keeper and a good batsman is not a big deal.

Coming days in India will be much harder for Mailk as caption. Just interesting to see how long Pakistan Team can carry on in ODIs with under performaning players like Akmal dropping 2 catches, 1 stump (however it ws on Free Hit) but we can see the lack of concentration on Akmal side plus we have same very uesless fielders like Shoiab Aktar, Omar Gul...

I feel pity on Malik being handicapped by his fielders including Wicketkeeper. At least there was same hope that Salman betted well but Younis, Yousuf both need to rethink running between the wickets both have very poor track record.

Possible Kamran Akmal replacements Kashif Mahmood 22, Pakistan's late coach Bob Woolmer was a great admirer of Kashif's talent. In 2005, Bob watched him keeping wicket at LCCA ground and called him to Gaddafi Stadium for a practice match between Pakistan and Pakistan A side. Bob, who was looking for a left-hand wicket-keeper/batsman, was quite impressed with his punctuality, communication, batting and above all wicket-keeping talent.

Zulqarnain Haider and Sarfraz Ahmed are the other two guys, who are performing well in domestic cricket. Zulqarnain, who has 44 first-class matches in his kitty at such a young age, has been with the national team for the last couple of years. The lanky stumper, who could not demonstrate his true batting skills in the practice one-dayer against touring South Africans at Bagh-e-Jinnah, has toured South Africa last year under Inzamam-ul-Haq and played the only Twenty20 International there.

In 2004, he was part of the 16-member national team for the two-Test home series against Sri Lanka. At one stage, he was on the verge of making his Test debut but was suddenly overlooked due to unknown reasons. Zulqarnain, who has struck two centuries and 10 fifties in first-class career so far, has displayed his batting potential on a number of occasions. He was top scorer and best wicket-keeper in the 2004 U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh where Pakistan won the title.

Sarfraz Ahmed, another U-19 World Cup winning skipper in 2006, is a right-handed wicket-keeper/batsman. He has already shown his worth as a middle-order batsman, scoring six half-centuries in his 13 first-class matches. It is for sure that the PCB will have to take this decision sooner or later to meet the challenges of modern day cricket.

Very very bad performance by Pakistani team & definitely credit goes to Shoaib Malik's lake of experience.

Pakistan likely to call up additional 'keeper Reply with quote
Akmal's injury, not form given as reason

Kamran Akmal's continuing descent behind the stumps has forced the Pakistan team management to call for another wicketkeeper to boost their squad for the remainder of the current tour against India. Though not officially confirmed yet, Sarfraz Ahmed, the promising young wicketkeeper, will be the man going to India.

Akmal has had a shocking ODI series behind the stumps in India: he has dropped four catches in three matches and he dropped Sourav Ganguly off the first ball of the third ODI in Kanpur. Sadly for Pakistan and Akmal, it is merely a continuation of the poor form that has plagued him over the last 18 months, where he has spilled chances regularly in England, South Africa and at home.

The selectors were keen on sticking with him through the India tour, given his experience and the high-profile nature of the contest, but so fragile have his performances become, they have been left with no other option.

Akmal, however, will remain in India and officials stress that the selection is of a back-up, not a replacement. Akmal has, according to officials, aggravated a hand injury, which has both hampered his performances and now requires rest.

"Akmal played with injury today [in Kanpur] and it worsened, so the team decided to ask for an additional wicketkeeper," Javed Akhtar, the team's media co-ordinator, told PTI.

"The management requested the board for another wicketkeeper," an official told Cricinfo. "Akmal will stay on in India. He has a problem in his right hand and it has prevented him for doing his job. So we have decided to send Sarfraz, not as a replacement but as a back-up to Akmal."

Sarfraz is highly-regarded in domestic circles. He was captain of the Under-19 team that won the World Cup in Sri Lanka last year and in his debut first-class season for Karachi, impressed behind and in front of the stumps. This season he has progressed: he performed admirably in the two four-day matches for Pakistan A against Australia A in September.

Having joined Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) this season, he has put together a good start to the domestic season, with 15 victims in three matches and a couple of fifties for added measure. "We've had our eye on Sarfraz for a while now. He is a promising young wicketkeeper, he can also bat a bit and is doing well this season," said the official. "This is a good opportunity for him."
