Information:

Nowshera (Pashto: نوښار)(Urdu: نوشہرہ) called by the locals "Now-khaar" is a major district in the North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan.

The Nowshera city is famous mainly for its Cantonment which is home to the Pakistan Army "School Of Artillery", School of ASC, ASC center, Armour center and School of Armour of Pakistan Army. The area comprises of many famous Pakhtun tribes including the Khattaks and Babers. It is also at the junction of Peshawar and Swat Road.

It is the only district of Pakistan with three Cantonments namely Nowshera Cantonment, Risalpur Cantonment and Cherat Cantonment. Nowshera district is spread over a large area with River Kabul bisecting the district. Nowshera District is also making a boundary with the Punjab province.

Nowshera is located to the north of Khushab district, probabally the most populated area in the begining of northern hill areas. It has many small towns situated all around. Overall it is called as Soon Valley, a beautiful hill station, people like to come from all over pakistan to visit the Sodhi Garden, Narvari Garden, Phulvari Garden. Soon Valley is blessed by two lakes, the Ochali lake and Khabaki lake. In the winter season thousands of birds migrate from Ciberia which enhances the natural beauty of Soon. During last years the problem of drinking water has grown, also the water of lakes falling down from its original level. The land of Soon is really fertile, it has the ability to cultivate almost all types of Ajnaas. The most popular of all is the Gobhee(Coulieflower) of Soon (mainly from the small town known as Khohrah) which is famous all over Pakistan.

There are one district police headquarters, headed by the district police officer and 8 police stations functioning in the district jurisdiction. These police stations are situated in Nizampur, Khairabad, Akora, Nowshera cantt., Nowshera city, Risalpur, Azakhel and Pabbi.
