| Nine face stoning death in Iran |
|
 |
 |
At least eight women and one man are reported to have been sentenced to death by stoning in Iran.
The group, convicted of adultery and sex offences, could be executed at any time, lawyers defending them say.
The lawyers have called on the head of Iran's judiciary to prevent the sentences from being carried out.
The last officially reported stoning in Iran last year drew strong criticism from human rights groups and the European Union.
The eight women sentenced, whose ages range from 27 to 43, had convictions including prostitution, incest and adultery, Reuters news agency reported.
The man, a 50-year-old music teacher, was convicted of illegal sex with a student, reports said.
Moratorium imposed
Under Iran's Islamic law, stoning to death is the punishment for the crime of adultery.

the Holy prophet Muhammad s.a.w once said if my own daughter Fatima r.a is found guilty of stealing, her hand would be cut and even she wont escape the punishment.
i think if he would have said this thing today, the human rights and the euroupean union would still cry out loud that this is barbaric.
question is, was he right, or wrong?
i know the answer for myself. its up to the rest to answer this for themselves.

as a non-muslim, i think different civilizitions have their own laws.it is wrong to use the law of one civilizition to judge the people of another civilizition.if you're a muslim, you should obey the islamic rules,in the same way,if you're a christian, you have to observe the christian rules.a adage says that different areas have different customs, so just do in Rome as Romans do.

one has to abide by the rules of the place he/she is residing. or he/she faces that place's law, accordingly. that is true in US, as well as in RUSSIA, as well as anywhere else.

I'm not quite sure what this quote has to do with it. Clearly the Iranian Authorities would be wrong to allow this especially as Iran likes to think of itself as being a modern country.
Stoning people in public is primitive, cruel and barbaric. It serves no justice to people in this day and age to perform these acts for Adultery and "Sex Offences", or for any other misdemeanor. Eight out of the nine are women. Where are the men who also committed the adultery or did the women commit adultery between themselves!! One law for men another for women !! Ho hum is this really Islam in the 21st Century. No it seems to be the behavior of misogynist zealots hoping that by having these women and the man killed they will get nearer to "paradise".
It is wrong and disgraceful to KILL people for their human short comings.
