I agree with u yaar, but this the second time i heard u using that term "banana republic" in last 24 hours. I know these words have been thrown around a lot since cowasjee used this term a while ago. I was just wondering what is ure defination of a "Banana republic"?

Pakistan is not a banana republic and do not even any body dare to say that.

Pakistan is a great country which is facing many challenges at the same time. There is no doubt about that, Pakistan did not get any good political leadership after Jinnah, but we do not have to forget that our country is only 65 years old. When we talk about US being a super power, do not forget that they got Abraham Lincoln, George Washington once in 500 years.

What Pakistan got in 1947 and what we have now, I think our forefathers will never believe if they happen to be around these days.

Pakistan is a multi-cultural modern country replete with historical and ancient monuments, and bestowed with 5 rivers, magnificent agriculture, great himalayas and 4 pretty seasons . Pakistan is a well renowned Muslim country in the world which has high standards of education, research and technology.

Do not look at Pakistani politics and Army and evaluate the country. If Pakistan happen to be a banana state, US was never associating its interests with Pakistani political situation for its so called war on terror.

Anyway now its our time to build the nation and take it out of clutches of oldies and make it a prosperous country.

The term "banana republic" has been thrown around quite a bit and the point that i was trying to make was that 99% of the ppl using that, have no clue wut the heck does that mean. Kaheen per kuch sun laitay hain, and start repeating it.

I remember my dad once told me a story that he was in peshawar loooong time ago and he saw Bacha khan heading a protest march with ppl shouting slogans behind him. My dad stopped one guy and asked him wut was the meaning of the slogan that he was shouting so furiously? His answer, " Sahab, matlab tou hum ko nahin pata, per Bacha Khan kehta hai tou theek hi hoo ga".
Thats how a common man was back then, thats how he is now and that is exactly how he will stay forever unless we educate him. Ppl shout slogans on top of thier lungs and throw blind support behing these so-called leaders. But have no clue wut is going on.
Thats why i always say, without education, We are heading nowhere. we'll be stuck in the 18th century.

Banana republic is one of very famous term used in current affairs.Mostly nick name for those countries where there is lesure ruling elete not concern with local people and uneducated masses. Ruling elete mostly make decisions on the basis of there own vested interests.
There is a long history of the origin of this words going all the way back to Haudraus.can be discussed someother time.
Question is , is Pakistan a banana republic or not.banana republic you can give the example of a person without self respect or a person who can do anything for money.
Politicians in Pakistan has converted this country into banana republic.Which depart in this country is without any corruption.

According to your definition the whole World seems to be a Banana, if not republic.

you are right.First thing is we should know what is going on & then the treatment.what i think is we have to again start struggle for Pakistan which was established in 1947 & then lost somewhere in world Politics , again we have to struggle for Pak Land.For us and for our future generations.
