Indeed... The two issues are orthogonal.. . Helping people get married and combating the prevailing stereotypes are not necessarily linked (in fact, I would argue that in the presence of the latter, the former becomes more important).
I also have to say... Booyah! You hit the nail on the head Br.Arsalan. Having gone through that load of (insert unpleasant smelling object here) for the past 6 years of my life, this one hits very close to home... I have to agree that I think it's the biggest hurdle in the face of building healthy Muslim families. There is much work that our Imams and community leaders need to do and it's not on lengthening people's beards or shortening their pants.
Here's a number 5 to your 5 examples: Propose a non-white, non-Arabic speaking spouse (Indian, Somali or heavens have mercy on us all, Mexican!) to Gulf-Arab parents (Saudi/Kuwaiti) . Heads will roll, entire herds of elephants will fill the room. And yes, I believe most Arab parents are racists.
