I think it depends on the age group of listeners.
Younger ones are more towards Pop, Rock, HipHop, Metal etc...
And Mature and aged ones are preety much towards the classic and trendy music...
Everyone has a different personality and different choice, so cant just pin point on any particular one...!

I am agreed with you that songs collection or listening depend upon the age of listener.
Off course every one has their own choice to like or dislike the Pakistani or Folk Singer
songs.
