| Musharraf Plans Political Comeback !!! |
|
ISLAMABAD — Pervez Musharraf, who was forced to quit the presidency under impeachment threats, is reportedly planning a political comeback, according to close friends.
"He is not sitting idle. Instead, he is playing a very active role (from) behind the curtain," a close friend told IslamOnline.net wishing not to be named.
"He is meeting with his friends, and like-minded politicians on daily basis to acquaint himself about the current situation in the country."
Musharraf plans to clinch the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League PML(Q), his own brain-child which came into being in 2001 and came to power after the 2002 elections.
"His intentions are very much clear. He wants to be the president of PML (Q)."
PML(Q) President Chaudry Shujaat Hussein, a former interim premier, is facing a no-confidence motion supported by pro-Musharraf party leaders.
Ansar Abbasi, a senior political analyst, believes Musharraf is behind the revolt.
"They are not doing this at their own. It’s Musharraf who is playing from behind the curtain."
Musharraf, who seized power in a 1999 military coup, resigned on August 18 under the yoke of impeachment from the new rulers who torpedoed his allies in the March general elections.
Under a deal with the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of slain former premier Benazir Bhutto, he resigned in return for dropping all charges against him and granting indemnity to all his previous acts.
"If he comes to politics, then he should get ready for impeachment," Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani told reporters recently.
"We have not so far impeached him, but if he enters politics, then there will be no leniency."
Socializing
Musharraf's unceremonious ouster from power has not disturbed his appetite for social life. Musharraf's unceremonious ouster from power has not disturbed his appetite for social life.
While quietly planning his political comeback, Musharraf's unceremonious ouster from power has not disturbed his appetite for social life.
"He met me a few weeks back, and told me that he is resting," Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed, a former federal minister for information and a close friend to Musharraf, told IOL.
"According to him, he is reading and writing and busy with construction of his new house," Ahmed added, referring to Musharraf's sprawling farm house in the capital Islamabad.
Musharraf reportedly starts his morning with music and still enjoys spending time playing bridge and tennis.
Last month, local newspapers published a picture of Musharraf at another party with some women, known for organizing dance parties.
He still enjoys all perks and privileges of a former president, including a VIP security protocol at Rawalpindi's Army House where he currently lives.
Two weeks back, people at the eastern city of Lahore suffered massive traffic jams because Musharraf was attending a music party, exclusively organized by a close friend, of a famous folk singer.
Abbasi, the political expert, believes Musharraf can not give up his thirst to power and his dreams are energized by his convection that Pakistanis want and need him back.
"He thinks he is still very popular among the people of Pakistan, who will soon want him to come back.
"His friends and politicians who meet him have personally told me that he still considers himself as a legitimate president of Pakistan," said the expert.
"He is closely observing the situation, and waiting for the adequate time to unveil his political ambitions."
Ps. I really want him to comeback, He did made some mistakes, but who doesnt....I think he can do a better job than Mr.10%. Zardari is fake and useless and is only here to make money.

It is really sorry to say that we are fighting between Musharraf and Zardari. Both are stupid and killer of this nation. My brothers we can not bring change in this country because we don't know who is good and who is bad. We should be out of this discussion and should think about this country which is in state of choas because of these politicians and Generals.

So any damages remain to be done to this country ? I mean why these people admit that cud't done justice to their job and country and let others work. Why they keep with their wrong and failed idiology.

He is gone, he wont come back. He doesnt have the reflexes to tackle the general politics. for which you have to go from city to city , village to village , town to town.and meeting with every sort of person. In my opinionn he wont be able to come back.

Mush is just one individual in a long line of our selfish and greedy leaders who would sell us cheaply for personal gains. Do you think it is democracy or people's rule now.....???? There is no true representative govt in entire muslim world and nothing is visible in foreseeable future
