Musharraf, Bush among least trusted leaders

WASHINGTON, June 17: US President George W. Bush is among the three least trusted leaders in the world, ranked slightly above his Iranian and Pakistani counterparts, a survey released on Monday showed.

The survey, carried out by the Washington-based World Public Opinion group in 20 countries, found that no world leader is popular across the globe. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has the highest confidence levels, at 35 per cent.

The survey describes President Pervez Musharraf as the most unpopular leader in the world today. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is second on the list. US President George W. Bush is third.

Sixteen of the 20 nations surveyed lack confidence in President Bush. Only President Musharraf is rated negatively in more nations. Just two countries -- Nigeria and India — give Mr Bush positive ratings while a third -- Thailand — is divided. Mr Bush also gets the highest average percentage of negative ratings, 67 per cent.

“While the worldwide mistrust of President George Bush has created a global leadership vacuum, no alternative leader has stepped into the breach,” said Steven Kull, director of WorldPublicOpinion.org. “Hu Jintao and Vladimir Putin are popular among some nations, but more mistrust them than trust them.”

This is very interesting, I thought it was only Pakistan that mistrusted Musharraf, seems like more than a quarter of the world has turned against him.

What a schock for "Enlightened Moderates" we never learn from history & past.You can tear yourself a part for others,be their mercenery 6 do for them what they want from you.You will be removed,killed or dissgraced by them I meean USA.Only those remains alive in the history,who are Nationalist & serve their nations & Countries.Those feel theirselves dissgraced who have some grace here is not that case.

Soon people will realise of the presently ruling politicians " ke wo kitne paani mai hain ".

read carefully lad, the survey was carried out by Washington-based World Public Opinion , Pakistani government wasnt involved in it, the only reason why I found it interesting is that americans are proving it not Pakis that musharraf is the most useless person on this earth

if you think Musharaf is popular then you must also think snow white exists and would marry you.

Those who think Musharraf is good are mistaken.May be he is good for few mentally slaves of USA,"enlightened Moderates",Corrupt,MQm or those living in foolish paradise.Why we worship personalities,why we don,t have Pakistan as a priority as long we have this mentality we cannot be successfull.Allah will save Pakistan,Inshah Allah he will reward us with some genuine Pakistani leader not these touts of west.we should only change our direction towards Allah & behave like a nation.

I DONT KNOW WHY MUSHARRAF IS STILL PRESIDENT. PAKISTAN IS IN ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS THESE DAYS AND IT LOOKS LIKE IF HE LEAVES THE OFFICE EVERY THING MAY GETS BETTER.

I guess Musharraf is the worst president we ve ever got in pakistan..I like justice Iftikhar Choudhry in hhis comparison, u knw in past, he made such good steps to improve pakistans condition..just take an example of steel mill in karachi, which musharaff tried to sell in cheap price to a private company. Now tell me who gave him right to sell a government property which means a lot for pakistan..and this all he was doing just for his own profit... Chief justice denied to pass this law..and there were some more things on which chief justice didnt agree and in the result Musharraf became his enemyyy...I hope mush give his resignation as soon as possible

we as a nation always praise the new comers. I cant think of a single political party being praised once they stepped down.
Anyway, its nothing new what is happening now.

President Musharraf is the most Un-popular president in the history of Pakistan. Every Person and each and every department hates him.

Musharaff is an unpopular president ??? This notion is the sadest you can think of ... who is popular then ??? The Mr. 10% Zardari ??? or corrupt Mr. Sharif. I'm ashamed of the fact that people of pakistan are so blind to their affiliations that they keep inviting the bad and corrupt leaders. WHY Sharif and Zardari ??????????? boot them out too ... EVERY ONE KNOW THEY ARE CORRUPT FOR GODS SAKE.
How can this country be anything when country is being run by bad and corrupt rulers.

It is a shame that most people here are unable to understand the essence of this thread. As I said earlier it was a survey carried out by a neutral authority which is some Washington based insitution carried out in 20 different countries of the world.

Secondly, you seem to be premature to comment on if musharraf is sincere to Pakistan or not OR if musharraf understands what is good for Pakistan and whats not mainly because you are not a resident of Pakistan and you dont seem to have any idea what is he doing there; you probably dont know what has been happening within Pakistan and what curses he has brought to Pakistan; on top of that his foreign policy is crap beyond reason. So I strongly believe that no third person or a person not from Pakistan have no right to decide the fate of our country, or not even tell us what is better for Pakistan and whats not.
