Maula Jatt (Punjabi: مولا جٹ) is one of the most popular films in the history Pakistani cinema.
It is a Punjabi film starring legendary actor Sultan Rahi in the lead role and with Aseia
and Mustafa Qureshi as the villain Noori Nuth.

Maula Jutt was a classic, a film that scored heavily and reached cult status both in Pakistan & India.
Such was the impact of the film that it was copied by film makers in India and also in Pakistan
where several films with the sufix "Jatt" was used. However, no copy of this film could ever hope to
match the outstanding dialogues in the film and the chemistry between Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi.

This movie belongs to a different genre and represents a culture which is so much part of the rural Punjab.

A technically poor film but due to some very powerful characters as Moula Jatt (Sultan Rahi),
Noori Natt (Mustafa Qureshi), Daro Natni (Chakori) and Mukho Jatti (Asiya) this film celebrated
more than 300 weeks in Lahores cinemas and a business record through out Pakistan till
it was banned by government due to too much violence.

Story

Maula Jat is a kind of Pakistani Western style movie.
The story mostly revolves around the clashes between Maula Jat
(The Hero) and Nuri Nath (The Villain).
The story line is somewhat ambiguous at points and some of the fight
actions are way cheesy and give an impression of a comedy feature.

Impact

This film became a rage in the 1980s and spawned a number of sequels,
becoming the first ever successful unofficial franchise for a Lollywood title.
Maula Jatt's enormous success spawned Maula Jat tey Noorie Nut as well as
Maula Jat in London and continues to influence popular culture even in 2002
with plays like Jatt and Bond hitting the scene which uses Maula Jat as its "inspiration".

Film Business

This great film completed continuously 130 weeks at Shabistan Cinema Lahore
and combined 310 weeks in its first run.
If it was not banned it may run more than five years at its main theatre.
Its alone film that celebrates Solo Golden Jubilees in Faislabad, Rawalpindi and Multan
and solo silver jubilees in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha and Gujrat.
When it was released after the ban was finished in its second run it celebrates many silver jubilees.
Also completed combined Diamond Jubilee at Metropole & Capital cinema Lahore
and Qaiser & Godian Cinema Karachi as well in second run.
