Information:
Lakki Marwat (Pashto/Urdu: لکی مروت) is one of the Southern Districts of North-West Frontier Province in Pakistan. It was created as an administrative district on July 1, 1992, prior to which it was a Tehsil of Bannu District.
Lakki Marwat district had a recorded population of 490,025 as per 1998 census. Out of this only a total of 46,878 people or 9.6% of the population was recorded as urban inhabitants, while 443,147 people or 90.4% of the population was recorded as rural dwellers.
The district derives its name from the district headquarter town. It lies at the tail of the Marwat area that is why it is called "Lakai". The tail in the local dialect is called Lakai. The Lakki (Lakai) town is inhabited by Marwat tribe, hence it is called Lakki Marwat. According to the elders of the area, the original founder of Lakki Marwat village was Lakki Ram or Luko Ram-a Hindu.
