Information:

Kohat (Urdu: کوہاٹ) is a town in central North West Frontier Province in Pakistan. Kohat is the capital of Kohat District. The town contains a British-era fort with a pool, a Pashtun bazaar, the tomb of the Sufi teacher Haji Bahadar Ali Abdullah Shah, a mosque and a school. The Narrow Gauge Railway runs through the town. Until the abolition of the divisions of Pakistan it was the capital of Kohat Division. To the north of Kohat lies the Kohat Pass.

District Kohat is called by its Head Quarter Kohat. This is an old district of Sub-continent. Kohat is described in the old history of Buddhism. This district is important because of its geographical and defensive value. Boundaries of this District joint with Aurakazai Agency, province Punjab, province Peshawar and district Kurak. Ajab Khan Afridi and military contonment has made Kohat a memorable story.Kohat is famous for dry fruits and agriculture. This is a business point traditionally. This is important market for Punjab and Frontiers. These people are perfect in defense affairs. This district is growing towards progress day by day through continuous attention from Government. This district has become the model district because of construction Tanda Dame, important Army Cantonment, Indus High way and Kohat Tunnel.

Saint Ghous e Zamana Hazrat ZINDA PEER Sahib spend his time in Ghamkol sharif Kohat.His mazar mubarak is a beautiful and worth visiting place.Tens of thousands of his mureeds and other faith seekers pay visit to this place.

• The population will be reaching 39100 towards 2004-05.
• The main source of income in this population is agriculture.
• Total cultivatable land is 27430 hectors.
• To increase economic development, process are under construction with the help of Provincial Government alongwith main Government and foreign aid.

The city is facilitated with two dams; Tanda Dam and Gandiali Dam. The former is located in the SW of the city and the later is located in the SE. Moreover , the city is giving a good friendship symbol between Japan and Pakistan by having a 1.8km long tunnel constructed by Taisei Corporation of Japan.
