Khuda Ke Liye
Khuda Ke Liye
(2007)

Shoaib Mansoor

Shaan
Fawad
Iman Ali
Hameed Sheikh

Rohail Hyatt

Cinematography:-

Shoaib Mansoor

Geo Films

Release date(s):-

July 20, 2007

Country:- Pakistan

Language:- Urdu

Plot:-

The movie revolves around a Pakistani young man (Shaan) who goes to the United States of America for higher education. During his study years, the tragic event of 9/11 takes place where the World Trade Center is turned into dust. In a long array of investigations and arrests, the young man gets arrested by the American authorities; and his younger brother is being motivated by his old friend Shershah Hameed Sheikh on the path of God and to quit all musical activities in favor of the "straight" path. Meanwhile, his uncle (Humayun Kazmi) arrives from UK with his only cousin Mary (Iman Ali) who wanted to marry her non-Muslim boyfriend back in the UK against her family's wishes. He brings her to Pakistan where Shershah trucks them to their village in a tribal area near Afghanistan. They try to escape but Shershah follows her and brings her back to the village.

The experiences of the young man are shown in this movie. There are plenty of other issues that are highlighted in this film. Iman Ali makes her cinema debut with this film, and enacts the character of a Pakistani-Briton. Shaan's wife is played by Austin Sayre whilst the young music prodigy Ahmed Jahanzeb along with Shuja Haider (composer of anti-terrorism song Yeh Hum Naheen) produced the soundtrack of the film.

Implications:-

According to one source, "There is a consensus among some of the religious scholars that the way Shoaib Mansoor have described his own interpretation of Islam on the movie website and in the film is wrong and anti Islamic." FATWA OF KUFR

There are clear verses of Quran, Ahadith and Fatwas which ban music and pictures. Further, doing a sin privately might be pardoned but someone who not only commits sins himself but encourages Muslims to commit the same sin, can never by pardoned by Almighty Allah (swt).

Since General Pervaiz Musharraf came to power, pop and rock music alongside the media and creative arts in general have flourished; this film carries forward this commercial and cultural trend. There is a possibility that a moderate majority in Pakistan will greet this film with open minds. The film was released on July 20th, 2007.

It is important to note that this is one of very few, if not only, independent motion pictures to be released to a cinema-going Pakistani market. The general trend in local cinema revolves around formulaic song and dance numbers, reminiscent of Bollywood musicals. Independent film, or films that break this formula, are rare if not entirely absent. At the beginning of the film's trailers on it's website, there is a logo that reads "Supporting the Revival of Cinema in Pakistan," an acknowledgment of the milestone that this film achieves.

The film was produced in conjunction with the film division of the Dubai based network, Geo TV.

We had a preview of the movie Khuda Ke Liye. We had posed a question whether Shoaib Mansoor will be able to revive Pakistan cinema? A probable answer comes from myself who recently got chance to see this movie. The record breaking Pakistani film Khuda Ke Liye has become my favorite film overnight- Hollywood inclusive. Or more accurately I should say, that there hasn’t been a film in the past that has moved and affected me in this way.

A contrary perspective on the movie - from a friend at another forum.

“While visiting Karachi, I saw this movie in local cinema. The movie did not impress me at all. Naseer uddin shah’s character and role came as probably the only highmark in this movie.

There is nothing in this movie which seems original and creative. But coming from Jang publications which was instrumental in Propganada for Afghan Jihad in 80s, their new contract with Army regarding anti-jihad Liberal propaganda, is equally disappointing for educated ppl. Maybe it is good for the same target audience that was lured to Afghan jihad.”

Well, story was absolutely fantastic. I like shoaib mansoor productions anyway. However there were some controversioal points. But the good thing is that this movie is not ony entertainment but also food for though for young generation to think about right and wrong.

good one,alinasir-i agree.emaan ali's acting was great+the humour was subtle and very well blended in.
naseerudin shah's part in the film though short, was extremely important-probably the point around which the whole film revolved.brilliant performances by shah sahab, shan and fawad khan.if there is any one man that can revive our film industry it is shoaib mansoor sahab.

Assalamoalaikum!! Ya Alllllllllllllll

movie ko movie ki terhan hi dekha jaye to acha hai is movie ko bhi isi terhan dekha jaye to hi behter hoga. warna yeh movie is qabil hi nahi hai kay dekhi jaye bohat ghalat tariqay say ghalat baat ko dekhaya gaya hai. mosiki roh ki ghiza nahi hai roh ki ghiza hai us perwardigar ki hamdo sana. dadhi ko lay kar us ka mazaq banaya gaya hai. naseer uddin shah ki is movie mein dalilen sahi nahi ..... hansi aati hai un muslims per jo aaj kal ki nojawan nasal ko ghalat soch day rahay hain or yahi kaam is movie kay director ka hai. aaj say pehlay ganay bajane hote thay lakin us door mein bhi is cheez ko mana farmaya gaya hai. or is film mein dekhaya hai kay ek imaam namaz perhne say pehlay ganay sunta hai. mein us perwardigaar ka intihai gunahgaar banda hon lakin mujhe jo ghalat laga keh diya. agar koi yahan per yeh movie dekh kar mutasir hua hai or in baton ko sahi samjh betha hai to jo bhi kaam karay soch samjh kar karay. Allah ne sab ko demagh diya hai or woh tamam rastay dekhaye hain ji jo us kay liye sahi hain ya ghalat. mein khud movies dekhta hon kyun kay mere nazdeek movie waqt guzari ka zariya hai. aser liya jaye lakin sahi cheez ka. agar phir bhi kuch aisa ho jo samjh say bahar ho to pehlay us ki chaan been kar li jaye to behter hoga. ghalat sahi ka faisla karne wali zaat uper walay ki hai agar kisi ko lagay kay meri baat sahi nahi to mujhe bataya jaye mashkoor rahonga!!!!!!!!!

A good movie, but music is just not allowed in Islam, Period Reply with quote
Assalam Aleikum friends

It was a good movie to watch, good music good dialogues but what they have tried to do is misrepresent the true Islamic values. I listen to music everyday every hour of the day. I can not live with out music but it doesnot make it allowed in Islam. We all love music. Nasiruddin Shah as an Imam has misquoted Hazrat Dawood. Hazrat Dawood was never a singer or Musician. His voice was good and he used to pray Hamd-o-sana. he never used any musical instrument of those times. His voice and dedication was for Allah only. Shoaib Mansoor is a good director and this idea of Music allowed in Islam can be his personal idea but has nothing to do with Islam and it's values. Islam strictly prohibits music in its all forms. Other than that the movie is really good. Molvi hazraat's brain washing techniques on young minds was shown in a good way. This movie could actually be a very good weapon against terrorism and khudkush hamlas but he chose a Music allowed in Islam?.

I would say kay KHUDA KAY LIYEY, stop watching and supporting such crap "KHUDA KAY LIYEY " as you might have known the controversies it generated. KHUDA KAY LIYEY wake up guys and stop adding to the appreciation of anti Islamic or factors which digrace yourself. This movie is a disgrace to Pakistan, wrong interpretation of cultural and religious norms its absolutely ridiculous why our young ones haven't got any brains to think...
