love i would say is misunderstood here...
friendship has a love connection between itself - in 2 friends there are certain limits that people don't cross...so that the friendship or their love is not hurt.....in LOVe that you are talking about there are less restrictions.....two people are more closer.....but again...less restrictions only means more chances of break-up

What are the meanings of friend? I agree Love is powerful but it is useless without friendship. I LOVE my wife but we are friends too,
Ok let me know one thing if your friend makes mistake what will be your reaction? And if the same mistake is happened from to who you love then what will be your reaction.
Even parents can be friends, and where they are not you will see the gape among parents and kids. In any relation even in a relation between man and ALLAH friendship is there. Dear we all know that ALLAH is here. But we still doing against HIM, if we pray just coz we know ALLAH is here, but when we faith and believe that HE is hearing us and HE love us then your feelings will be change. You will pray from your heart and like you are talking to your friend only who can help you.
At the end I think friendship is the first step of Love.

Anyways Love and Friendship both are emotions only which tend to change over time as the human beings themselves change over time when their pre-understanding, which help them to understand the world around them, is enhanced through more experineces and knowledge.
