The Hafizabad district (Urdu: حافظ آباد) is one of the districts in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated in the central punjab and is pretty much famous in rice industry. The rice of this territory has special image in the rice industry. This was made a district in 1991, before this it was working as Tehseel. Hafizabad is said to be "Sheraz-e-Hind" as many a poets and scholars of international repute were born here. Hafizabad consists of two tehsils: Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian.[1] It has two consituency of Natioanl Assembly and five consituencies for provincial assembly. Famous industry is cotton power looms.Basically it is an agricultural city.

After construction of interchange near buj dara Hafizabad is now just 22 kilometer away from Motorway (M2).

The district had a population of 832,980 of which 26.73% were urban in 1998.

Hafizabad is an old city . In ancient times , When in 327 B.C Sikandar-e-Azam attacked the Hindustan then this territory ' Sandal Bar ' , ( Where is now the current Hafizabad is located ) was a populated area . Big cities were located in this territory , and a lot of sub states were organized here in the presidency of Maharajaz and Rajaz.

Hafizabad is situated 30 miles away in the west from Gujranwala .Connection with this city is via road which is called as Gujranwala Road or Hafizabad Road . On Wazirabad - Faisalabad Railway Section , Hafizabad is 8th railway station . The distance up to City Wazirabad is 37 miles.

Hafizabad has lot of natural resources and the products. District Hafizabad contains the great sort of soil in its land .This soil produces wheat , rice , sarsoon , oat , jawar , munji , bajra , moong , sugarcane , alsi , til , grams , oranges , grapefruit , kino , mangoes , guava , bair , leechi , toot , shehtoot , keekar , tahli , bairi , barna , bohar , wun , sufaida , peepal , saroo , dharaik , popular , bans ,shatala , lousan , barsan , kaddu , teenda , kheera , potato , cabbage , radish , carrot , onion,garlic , podina , karela , tarr , bangan , moongre , chili , shaljam , arvi , saunf , nargis , sosan,sweet potato , motia , sada bahar , gul daudi , and a lot of roses .

THOUGH HAFIZABAD IS IN THE HEART OF PUNJAB, IT IS THE NEWLY CREATD DISTRICT WHICH HAS THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION I MEAN THE LITERACY RATE. ACCORDING TO SOURCES IT IS RICH WITH AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS BUT IT IS WAITING GOVT'S ATTENTION TO HELP THE RURAL PEOPLE.
