| Doctors in Pakistan. |
|
I am one of the thousands of Pakistani doctors working overseas. I want to draw people attention to the very fact that why so many doctors are forced to leave the country & system which trains them to a level compatible with developed world. As you know that you have to get exceptionally high marks in order to enter medical college & then you study hard (like anything) for 5 yrs & then when you qualify you work 24-36 hr shifts every 2nd day for at least 1 yr and the pay you get is only 6200 rupees while sweepers in hospital who does a maximum 10 hr shift a day get 5000 rupees. And can any body think of a labor or human law which would allow you work for 36 hrs without giving you breaks & extra money for that. Not only that, if you want to do further specialist training in Pakistan you have to work for at least 5 yrs doing 24-36 hrs shift at least twice a week for 10000 rupees a month which is just about the pay you can get while working McDonald or KFC or a good retail store.
This is not only detrimental to doctors but also to the poor majority of Pakistan who can’t afford private health care. Govt should really increase health budget and plan reforms to improve the quality of hospitals and care provided by them for the benefit of poor Pakistanis in particular and for poor doctors & nurses working in them. But as none of the Govt official would ever go to Govt hospital as they can afford expensive private care they would never realize the fact and won’t do anything about it.

ur right that you dont get paid as much i cant really say if the amount you have mentioned is correct or not because i dont live in pakistan and never have but my parents are pakistani. iam a medical student and even here you have work such long hours after your four years of med school and they pay you as much as a high school teacher which isnt much either but to some extent i can c y. but then again like most other doctors iam not in it for the money so i guess i cant complain as much as u about the money part like they say my reward is up there not on earth if you know what i mean.
