| Computer Software Mainframe Programmers |
|
Hi,
My name is Yousuf and I am right now living in Canada. When I came to Canada in 2001 I tried to get in the software programming market but was not able to do it because I didn't have any Canadian education. So I completed 2 years Computer Programming Diploma from Centennial College in Scarborough Ontario but was still unable to get in. I still haven't gave up and due to continous research and netwroking found out that mainframe programming has been emerging again in Canada because all the old programmers are ready to retire and all the big banks and government agencies. In my opinion if you are planning to come to Canada you need to learn the following languages to be successful:
Java, COBOL, Assembler, Z/OS operating system, CICS and DB2

Mainframes are a dying field. Maybe 10-20 years more than it's all over.
In Canada, you need luck and good connections for any high tech job - just like Pakistan.
