Laws are already in place to prevent army from taking part in Gov. but laws can not ristrict a mad elephant. As being pakistani humans, army should realise this fact that army is not suitable to do every thing. the problem is that the Army considers that they are "Aqle Kul" and they can manage every thing in pakistan. Army think that they are better than civilians and can control let say WAPDA, Banking system, foreign policies, home afairs etc etc. But this is not true infact. they are trained only for the war fields. Their mind set is only for the war zones. Civil matters are not to be handled by force. More over army should realise that they are not a secret cow at all. They are not a earning institution, but an expense and a burden on pakistani tax payers. Their budgets should be revisited to cut down non-main stream expense like Generals are getting agricultural lands at their retirement, Why? Commisioned officers are getting a luxury house in posh areas of every city, Why? Best utility services, best residential colonies, fireign family visits on the name of training, why? best possible school, colleges, universities are for army childrens, why? All these at the expense of Tax payers, Why? Why not these facilities are vailable to other security forces, like Police, rangers etc and other citizens of pakistan. Now this is the time to rebudget Army expenditures and cut down non-main stream army expenses.

Army and Politics Reply with quote
Army's real job is to defend the borders but sadly Pak Army has been meddling in politics (for whatever reasons) for so long now that they have lost any sense of their true responsibilties. They now think that there job is to run the country and that's how they are going to defend the borders. But I cannot just blame the army, our so called "politicians" share some responsibility also. The sad part is that common people are suffering because of this on-and-off democratic/dictatorship in the country.

Call me paranoid, but Pak Army will never let "politicians" stay in power for too long or make peace with our neighbours, any move that reduces their importance in the country has been and will be rebuffed by our armed forces.

The reality is that Army will always be their (like it or not) to play a major role in Pak politics to protect its own interests. The simple fact is that they are the most disciplined institution in the country, they know it and are always ready to capilitize on it.

I remember my father (Allah bless his soul) used to tell stories of the war of 65 and how people used to respect the Pak Army, any soldier (sipahi) in uniform who used to pass the streets was picked on the shoulders of the people. This is what the Pak Army used to be.

Unfortunately the involvement of Army in Politics have tarnished its own image, now people do not see the army as the Saviours of the country, rather they see Pak Army as blood sucking institute..huge amount of our budget is consumed by the army...Unfortunately our top brass is puppet of American government (CIA). Nobody can talk against them they are self proclaimed gods of this country, they can overthrough any elected government they want, they can sack the Judiciary of the country, they can put anybogy behind bars they want, and still proclaim themselves to be the gaurdians fo this country..its total Nuisance......

It was during Pak Army's tenure when AK-47 culture flourished, it was during Pak Army's tenure when drugs reached our children in the schools, the list is never ending....really these people are pathatic n shamless...

No, the army should never be allowed in politics...they have their place in Barracks...
